Consulting services rate schedule
(July 1, 2004)
Standard Rate
Studio 32 charges a Standard Rate of $200 per consultant
hour for software consulting services (including JavaScript
and other client-side software), and $100 per consultant
hour for non-software production services (such as HTML
development, digital illustration, and copywriting). For
clients who require Studio 32 contributors to work at the
client's site, travel to and from the client's location is
billable on a time and materials basis. Daily Rate
For services performed at the client's site, Studio 32
charges a Daily Rate of a minimum of eight hours per day for
the first consultant day; for a minimum of eight hours per
day at a 5% discount for the second and third consecutive
consultant days; and for a minimum of eight hours per day at
a 10% discount for each additional consecutive consultant
day.
A "day" is up to eight hours at the client site
during a single calendar day, or off-site while working on
tasks associated with the project, in a single calendar
day. For additional hours beyond eight during a single
calendar day, Studio 32 charges its standard hourly rate, or
the retainer rate if already in effect before the day
begins.
For purposes of calculating daily rate discounts, two days
are "consecutive" if one immediately follows the other on the
calendar, not considering Saturdays, Sundays, and legal
national or bank holidays during which the client site is not
open for business. These exception apply for up to three
adjacent non-business days. For example:
- If Saturday and Sunday are non-business days, the immediately-preceding Friday and immediately-following Monday are considered to be consecutive when calculating the daily rate discount.
- If Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are non-business days, the immediately-preceding Friday and immediately-following Tuesday are considered to be consecutive when calculating the daily rate discount.
- If Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are non-business days, the immediately-preceding Friday and immediately-following Tuesday are not considered to be consecutive when calculating the daily rate discount, because more than three non-business days intervene. In this case, the immediately-following Tuesday is billed at the full daily rate.
Daily minimums and discounts do not apply for work
performed remotely, when Studio 32 is free to determine the
time and location where services are performed.
Retainer Rate
The Retainer Rate offers substantial discounts from the Standard
and Daily Rates in exchange for a minimum commitment of just
four hours of service per month. A monthly retainer fee of
$760 gives you access to a Studio 32 consultant for up to
four hours in a single calendar month. The retainer locks
in a 10% discount for each subsequent hour up to 20 hours
in the same calendar month, and a 15% discount for each hour
beyond 20 in the same calendar month.
The Retainer Rate makes sense during those months that you
expect to require four or more hours of service in a single
calendar month. To receive the Retainer Rate, you must enter
into the retainer relationship by paying the retainer fee
before the first retained hour of service begins. The retainer
fee covers up to four hours of service in a single calendar
month, and is not prorated or refundable if you do not make
use of all four hours before the end of the month.
If a retainer relationship is in place before the first hour
of service in a calendar day, Studio 32 applies the Retainer Rate for that day and subsequent days in the calendar month for which the retainer is in effect. Applying the Retainer Rate discount instead of the standard daily rate discount when a retainer rate is in effect is generally beneficial for the client, because the Retainer Rate discount is greater than the regular daily rate discount.
Time and Expenses Billing
In addition to hourly and daily billing for time as
described above, Studio 32 bills for full-fare coach-class
airfare and other transportation and expenses required to
travel to and from the client site, and for transportation,
lodging, meals, and reasonable out-of-pocket expenses
associated with the client project.
